Gas/Electric Model Testimonials

We take great pride in doing quality work for our customers. It’s more than a business practice, it’s a way of life. Take a look at what a few of our customers have to say about their experience with us and their gas/electric units. We believe you’ll experience the same level of service.

Also, see what customers of the all electric units have to say by clicking here!

It was a pleasure meeting you and your son (or sons).  The unit is working great.  We are in cooler temps, low 50 and high around 75.  I have the unit on 6 and there is ice across all the fins in the fridge.  Woo Hoo.

I just wanted to say thanks for the quick and professional service you gave us.  Also, it was a real pleasure to spend a week in your lovely community.  My wife and I have been all over the country in the last 5 years and we both agree that your town is, by far, the friendliest town we have ever been to.  You have something special in your community.  Please don’t take it for granted.

I have posted rave reviews about you and your cooling unit.  I hope it helps your business. All the best to you and your family.

Thank you again for both your hospitality and your service. The fridge is working great and we feel confident that it will continue to work without fail in all of our upcoming journeys. The technology you provided allows security for what began as an inferior product, and the alarm allows for an extra layer of protection. When traveling with the family having a refrigeration system that works is very important. Your superior product should be standard in all RVs and we highly recommend you and your Dutch Aire RV cooling unit products. Thank you again for all of your help.

I’ve been a fulltime RVer for 15 years, and when my newest Norcold cooling unit failed at four years old, I started researching to see if there were better alternatives, since it was obvious the Norcold ones were not only failing frequently even with the newest recall fixes done at the factory, they were also still causing fires.

From what I read in RV forums from other experienced RVers with the same issues, and in talks with RVIA certified techs and respected RV safety experts, the consensus is that the Amish made units are remarkably better made with stronger material to avoid the problems inherent in Norcold built.

Besides the superior warranty and even lower price, I was so impressed with the contacts I have had with JC Refrigeration, the actual builder of the units. I always like to go to the most direct source whenever I can, so I was happy that I could talk with JR there when I had problems after my initial install. It turned out that a minor part, the thermistor, was defective and needed to be replaced. It had nothing at all to do with the RV cooling unit itself, but JR was patient with all my questions and helping me get the problem diagnosed and resolved. Now my refrigerator works wonderfully, keeping both fridge and freezer sections at just right temps at a more efficient setting than my Norcold ever did at any setting.

I hope to have the opportunity to visit the factory in Shipshewana, IN at some point because I’m so impressed with this small company with a large mission – to produce a superior product not by a huge robotic production line, but with individual attention and incredible service after the sale.

We had JR and his team at JC Refrigeration install a Dutch Aire RV Cooling Unit in our motorhome to replace the cooling unit in our 13 year old Dometic fridge. JR scheduled our appointment to our convenience and allowed us to camp overnight in front of his shop.

The following morning JR answered all our questions regarding the replacement RV cooling unit, and assured my wife and I that they would lay blankets down to protect the floor and at most we might have a little dust to clean up. We then went to a local restaurant that JR recommended (great food), toured the nice town of Shipshewana and came back to the coach 4 hrs later. The replacement was in, the interior of the coach was spotless and the fridge working better than new. We left Shipshewana the following day and headed for Texas.

Throughout the 10 day trip with outside temps ranging from 20 degrees to 85 degrees, the fridge had no problem keeping temps at 36 degrees in the fridge and 0 degrees in the freezer, both on propane and electric. We are very satisfied with the replacement cooling unit fromJC Refrigeration, and especially happy with the workmanship of JR and his dedicated team. We recommend them without hesitation.

Thanks JR!!

I can’t say enough about JC Refrigeration. My Norcold Model 811 had just stopped working, my wife had passed the same day and she had previously planned a camping trip with our granddaughter on her birthday. I was bound and determined to not have to cancel this camping trip. It was already hard enough on all of us losing a loved one, and especially our grand kids. I called JC Refrigeration in Shipshewana, IN told them my story and they immediately got me an appointment to get my 5th Wheel in. I showed up on Sunday evening stayed the night in their parking facility. Early Monday morning I checked in at the office as was told to pull up in front of the overhead door. I was met by a gentleman whose name I did not get but he asked a few questions and gave me the options of repairing the unit. I choose to do a complete rebuild of the “Gas Abortion Unit” and install new fans, heating element, and Gas Burner. He asked if I were going to drop it and leave it with them or stay. I choose to drop it so I could go to town and get breakfast. They started at 8:30 AM and by noon they were testing the unit and by it was completed. The example of professionalism they showed and the compassionate they gave, just cannot be explained. I will never forget the kindness they gave and I’m 100% sure they are truly the best in the business. If you are having trouble with any of the products they service, rest assured, you’re in good hands.

My wife and I were in Florida when our 4-door Norcold model 1200 quit working. We called a mobile RV repair service out of Fort Myers who then came and changed the thermostat and charged us $230 for the service (they priced us $2600 to change out the cooling unit). I then called JC Refrigeration in Shipshewana, IN and scheduled an appointment with them to have the unit changed out. We parked on their pad for the night and by 8:00a JR (the owner) and his son, Jeremy, started by covering up the inside of the coach with padding and blankets, by noon they were done with the install, they were very helpful in explaining the questions we had as they installed the new unit, very knowledgeable and clean job. Very Pleased… remember Florida priced at $2600 and from the factory with the install $1428 plus changed out a fan and had ventilation baffle installed.

Just thought I would let you know as I sit here outside of Phoenix in my RV out in the open desert, parked facing west, with the 2 pm sun and 82 degree temp. blasting the side of us, our fridge is working as if we were in the cold of Michigan. If any one should question the quality of your unit that you installed in our RV last summer, give them my phone number and I will be glad to tell them how efficient this unit is. Our milk lasts so much longer than our original unit it is unbelievable. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”
